RMS 2.0.2000 includes changes made by Microsoft to the RMS application. These changes were in response to changes mandated by the credit card industry for improved PCI compliance. Anyone in the retail industry who processes credit card transactions using the RMS application in a supported environment is encouraged to be minimally on RMS version 2.0.2000.
Any customer who intends to be EMV compliant which does require EMV capable credit card machines like the VeriFone MX 860 the Ingenico ISC 250 or 350 may require hotfixes above RMS 2.0.2000.
This POS software is supported until 2021.
Anyone presently considering adding more POS registers or incorporating Headquarters within their existing RMS environments, has until July of this year to purchase licenses for them.
No versions of Windows HOME is supported within a RMS environment ( RMS system requirements state professional or higher) only.
Windows XP is no longer a Microsoft supported operating system, it poses a security and data risk within you retail environment to both your data and your customers data.
RMS customers are strongly encouraged to replace any Windows XP hardware they may presently have with a supported and secure operating system. Please Note: Your existing RMS POS licenses are transferable to new hardware.
Any customer considering purchasing or upgrading to a Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 Professional or higher machine. If the machine is to host the primary database or a offline databases, that machine will require SQL Server 2008 R2 Express SP 3 or higher be installed.
RMS 2.0 is not compatible with Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 running SQL Server 2005 Express.
While other EMV compliant devices may exist or may be configurable, the three listed above are to date, the only three known working or tested devices with RMS.
For setup, configuration, installation and upgrades to include EMV processing and CC devices.
Microsoft encourages all RMS customers to obtain professional services from a Microsoft Partner, to reduce any potential loss of revenues or impact to your organizations business or workflow.
