Running HQ Client on a different PC from different site?

Hi, 

I am trying to manage HQ Client to be more reliable to upload and download data 100% accuracy.

Problem is, lot of time, HQ Client goes off not uploading the data. If no one at the Store side, I won't be able to get the HQ Client to be on untill I have to wait till someone to be at the store.

So I was thinking about run a VM for separate machine only for HQ client at our HQ Server site.

Then I will need to open a SQL port for store level to transfer the data. 

Would this be reliable for speed? and safe way to do it?

When refreshing is very difficult when someone's using the computer.

Any other idea would be great!
